Are the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament different?

It may seem difficult to reconcile the harsh, locust-sending, population-wiping God from the Old Testament with the merciful, justice-loving nature of the God of the New Testament. However, if you look closely enough, you will see that God’s love and compassion for His people never wavers throughout the story of the Bible.
